Teaser, promo or explainer: which video does your launch need?

SEP 17 2026 · 4 MIN READ · THE CODE IN MOTION JOURNAL

“We need a video for the launch” usually means one of four very different things. Picking the right one, and the right length, matters more than any production detail.

Teaser: build anticipation

A teaser shows just enough to make people want more, and usually not the product itself. It’s short (15–20 seconds), vertical-friendly and designed to run in the days before launch. A 15-second vertical teaser is $30. More on AI teaser videos →

Product launch video: the hero film

This is the video on your homepage, in your announcement post and on stage at your keynote. It tells the story: the problem, the product and the moment it clicks. 30–60 seconds is the sweet spot. A 45-second launch film is $90. More on AI product launch videos →

Promo: drive action

Promos are built for conversion: an offer, a reason to act now and a clear call to action. They’re typically 15–30 seconds and often need several aspect ratios for different placements. A 30-second promo is $60 per cut, vertical or horizontal. More on AI promo videos →

Explainer: show how it works

Explainers earn their length. They walk a viewer through what the product does and why it matters, usually in 60–120 seconds with clear narration. A 60-second explainer is $120. More on AI explainer videos →

A simple launch kit

For most launches we suggest a teaser for the week before, a hero launch film for the day itself and a vertical promo cut for paid social. Ordered together, that kit typically costs less than a single day of traditional production.
